Cullinan Studio have used the experience of the pandemic and the introduction of increased home working to evolve both their working strategies and the use of their Islington located canal-side office building.

Peter Inglis, Practice Leader, explains: ``The extended remote working that we experienced due to the multiple lockdowns over the past year really opened our eyes to the possibilities of becoming a much more flexible organisation. The notion that everyone in the Studio has to have a fixed desk and a big workstation and the inherent constraints that then placed on how we use our building was brought into question by how effectively we were able to work without really having an office at all for large parts of the year. The experience didn't negate the need for an office at all, but it did force us to question how and why we use the office and what we could do in the future to make our use of the space more effective.

``We have always had building sector related tenants at our building and we felt that expanding on the idea of creating a vibrant multi-disciplinary hub would be an exciting and positive response to the challenges of the last year. We made the decision to open up more of the building to like-minded companies by reducing the amount of space required by our staff, knowing that we would be accomodating an aspect of home working for our team in the future.

``The key to this was creating a fully agile space for our team, where staff attending the office can sit at any desk when they are on premises. We have achieved this by using Inevidesk, which effectively moves our workstations to the cloud. Our staff can now access these from anywhere with an internet connection and therefore work easily from home, site or any desk in the office. The system also allows us to easily plug in our new satellite office in the Midlands, without the need for any local IT infrastructure.

``This really was a simple decision to make. Adopting Inevidesk has allowed us to reduce our overheads, increase the creative possibilities of our co-working hub, better support our new flexible model of working, improve the resiliency of our IT services, free up space taken by onsite server infrastructure, effectively connect up our new Midland office and ensure we have the potential to make any adjustments we like to our working practices in the future. All in the knowledge that our data remains centralised and secure and without the need to adopt new or complex workflows. "
